Booting From Hd On Sata Port

I have upgraded the drives from 8x1TB to 8x2TB on a T610. Before I did so, I cloned the 100GB boot partition to a spare SATA disk mounted on SATA port B on the MB, using a commercial cloning prog that I've used many times. (As standard, the CD is on Port A) I now have my new volume partitioned, but the T610 will not see the SATA drive on port B, finding no bootable devices. I have set up port B as the primary boot device - and have tried it as the only bootable device. Any thoughts? I'd prefer not to have to do an OS (Win2003) and application reinstall all over again.

Hello Dreece

The MBR may not have copied correctly. I would suggest booting to the 2003 CD and repairing the boot record. If the install is recognized by the 2003 CD then that should resolve the issue.

Refer to this document for how to use the recovery console:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/326215

fixboot, fixmbr, and bootcfg will be the commands that would likely resolve the issue. I would run fixboot first and see if that resolves the issue. It is limited to x86 installations though.

Thanks
