The following is the minimal requirements to post the PowerEdge 840.
Minimum to POST
• System board
• Processor
• One Memory DIMM
• One Power Supply
• Control Panel
If you get the server to POST at this point you would start adding one component at a time to isolate the failing component. If you do not get the server to post you may try swapping out and or reseating the remaining components with any known good components that you have in your environment.
