Hi sorFil,

I'm a part of Dell Social Media Team. Battery is always connected and put to use when you disconnect the A/C adapter from the computer. However, let me know if you see any error messages when running the computer on battery. Simultaneously you could also test the battery online here: http://dell.to/1a0wnWm Once you are on the page, choose Hardware > Battery and run diagnostics.
