I Was Making A Copy On The Platen And Paper Is Stuck At Bottom Feeder Of Machine

Pixma MX892 all in one printer: I was making a copy from the platen & paper entered the feeder about 3/4 through when machine made a grinding sound and jammed. Display says "Error paper output slot. Clear the paper and select OK". since there is 1/'4 of paper I can see, I tried to pull it out but it didn't budge. How do I get the machine to release the paper?
