I Am Receiving Error 5c20. Printer Error

I am receiving printer error 5C20. "Printer error has occured."I have turned off power, unplugged printer and retried. Also have rebooted computer and removed and reloaded printer drivers.

The pump roller position cannot be detected.

Solutions

  • remove the jammed paper and foreign material.
  • check for foreign material or paper debris in the cassette or in the PF rear guide;
  • - remove foreign material.
  • If other solution fail, replace one off the following part
  • - PF pick-up unit
  • Replace Purge drive system unit

The error code is a service error and usually indicates a fault with the purge unit mechanism, however, you may try these intermediate steps: first of all please turn off the unit>unplug the power cable now remove the cartridge & manually slide the carriage assembly-printhead back and forth also clean the rail against which the assembly slides with a tissue ensuring that there is no ink residue on it clean the golden contacts of the cartridges and the printhead with a cotton swab dipped in little alcohol
once done turn the unit back on and check if still the error persists, it's a hardware fault. If the unit is within warranty cover please contact Canon and get the unit serviced if not, you need to contact a repair tech for physical replacement of the part however, my personal suggestion is that a repair will not be cost effective you can get a new unit at almost the same cost.
