Can't Install Suite Mfc-j835dw

I tried installing recomended suite for Windows 8 64bit and have a MFC-J835DW Microsofts driver works to print but can't install suite to save files to computer. At the point of the installion when asked to connect the usb cable to pc it just hangs. Tried with new usb cable.
