Thread Breaking And Skipping Stitches.

Using two needles the left needle thread , whether its in middle or far left position, keep breaking. I am sewing on spandex using wooly nylon. All tensions are set at 5ish, which is where I've had them for a while with no problems. I have tried cleaning the tension disks with a thick piece of paper, and set tension to 0 the 5(or whatever) after each threading.    Thank you
