Display Not Working

The plasma display has stopped working. I had to to replace spur gear in CD drive and so unit has been apart several times. Now, there is nothing displayed on plasma screen, yet all the functions work using buttons or remote. Is there a light sensor to adjust display brightness, which could fail? Thanks
