Blackberry Bold 9900 Help!!

My blackberry bold was on the network mode 3G with the blackberry symbol beside it and had full access to blackberry messenger (which i use all the time to contact my friends) i was using this last night and then this morning when i turned on my phone and turned on data roaming (as i turn it off during the night) my network mode turned to 3g with no blackberry symbol and my blackberry messenger was not working so i took out my sim card and my battery for about 10-20 minutes and then put them back in. As i was away all day i did not turn on and unlock my phone all day but when i did turn it on it came up the screen to enter my blackberry id stating i have entered a new sim card. I entered in my blackberry id but i have forgot my password since i never use it since I have a problem with it too saying 'unable to log-in'. When i got my password wrong i exceeded the attempts and i could not try again for 15 minutes. I had the option to make a new id for my 'new' sim card but that required me to wipe my phone which i did not want to do at all. So again i took out my sim and battery then but them in and turned it on but then where it usually shows wi-fi / network it said 'insert sim card' even though i have in the one i have been using for about 4 years. Please help!!!!
