Sounds like your system is not posting. Try removing the battery and ac adapter. Keep pressing the power button to make sure all power is completely drained. Next connect the ac adapter and power on your computer. Are you still unable to post?

Restart your computer and keep pressing F9. You will have to do this a couple times to get into the recovery partition. Once inside, reset to factory settings.

If you are still having problems, then you will have to send the unit in for service or exchange for another if you are still under the return policy in which you purchased it from.

I would try finding a boot disk online. It's hard trouble shoot when you have nothing on the screen. If you are getting problems like this after 5 days, you should exchange it so that you are not stuck with a lemon.

Good Luck.

F9 brings you to boot manager which requires the Windows disk. F8 will bring you to recovery options and diagnostics.

There are a cuple of things you can try.

1. Try to access the recovery partiion by pressing f8. It took me 10 tries to do this so I would keep trying. Once in there you have a few options. You can start Windows in safe mode and go from there.

2. You can take out the hard drive and connect it to another computer and run tests.

When the ASUS screen comes up, press f2 to get into the BIOS. Once there check to see if your hard drive is listed. At the same time check the boot sequence. It sounds like your os can't be found, but usually it gives you a message. If you need a Win8 boot disk you can always find one online.

I also have a K55 since last September. No issues.
