Modifying The Ipod Operating System
I would like to slightly modify the OS by disabling a couple of the control features. The goal is to slightly simplify ( turn off or delete ) a couple of the controls.
Often when listening to a Podcast ( which I do for a couple of hours a day ) and someone interrupts me, I hit Pause. This often reverts back to the very beginning of the Podcast I was listening to, and that is VERY annoying. I have to take the iPod out of my pocket, look up the broadcast I was listening to, and guess how far into it I was, and continue.

You cannot. The iPod operating system is not "adjustable". Any attempt to do so will void your warranty.
You can check these sites but be aware that you can destroy the iPod if the wrong thing is done.
