Aspire 7720 Keeps Shutting Down. Not Over Heating.

The laptop sits on a laptop pad with 2 cooling fans running.  I therefore do not think it is overheating. Could it be the power unit or motherboard on its way out?

You are right that most automatic shutdown problems are caused by overheating of either the motherboard or CPU. If that is the case, it might be a corrupted Operating System. The only solution that you can do is to reformat and reinstall the Operating System of your computer. Corrupted Operating Systems are caused by malicious software running in the background or improper shutting down of the computer. I have provided some useful articles below for your additional information.
