Thank you for contacting us concerning 3M(TM) Scotchgard(R) Fabric & Upholstery Protector. We appreciate hearing from you.
Overspray from Scotchgard(R) on wood sometimes leaves a white film behind. Our lab has tested and found that the following recipe will remove the white film. Please read the instructions thoroughly, if you have any questions please contact us.
Items you will need:
· White cloth (Similar to a dish towel or cheese cloth)
· NON-ACETONE fingernail polish remover
· Gloves (fingernail polish remover may dry out skin)
First apply a small amount of the fingernail polish remover to the white cloth and not directly on the wood.
– It is very important that the cloth NOT be saturated with the liquid.
· Using swift motions wipe (DO NOT RUB) away white residue. Rubbing may cause the finish to dull.
· Continue this process until the white residue is removed.
· Clean with a good brand name furniture polish of your choice.
* It is very important that only NON-ACETONE fingernail polish remover be used, as the other products will damage the wood finish.

Non-acetone fingernail polish remover will do the trick. Works on wood, car plastics, etc. Only use non-acetone as acetone will cause true damage. Not too sure as to how non-acetone polish works so well against Scotchgard which does have acetone, but I can tell you-it does work. I keep a bottle of it for just in case I have an overspray of Scotchgard in my car someday! Overspray is common in many situations...
