GE JVM1790SK Reviews

Over temperature shut down with FUSE failures and no possible reset
My first GE convection microwave has performed in tropical Caribbean conditions for almost 25yrs with only the replacement of the magneton! Two years ago we decided to purchase a new Profile JVM1790SK for our California cottage. Nano really likes the sleek design and useful functions of this over the counter oven. However, last week it just quit while she was simply cooking soup and using the convection oven.
With the help of OWL service manuals and i located and tested three of the four thermal fuses and discovered one was bad and ordered the replacements from searspartsdirect.com. Nevertheless, the oven still would not power on.
After removing it from the wall cabinet and disassembling the housing, i tested each of the components and eventually discovered a 4th Thermal TCO Fuse [145/0c] located under the upper left shroud. It was blown so i replaced it with a spare Fuse [150/0c] and the unit powered up and now works fine except that the exhaust fan will not turn off !
It cycles through high, medium, and low without any problems.
My expectation based on 25yrs of impeccable American built performance was shattered after just 2 short years of minimal usage. Cheap Chinese part failures underscores how far GE Appliances have fallen since the mighty CEO Jeff Emholt moved all production offshore. Recently, It was reported that GE is trying to unload the appliance division in the aftermath of stalled profits and numerous consumer lawsuits.
