Video Display

I unkugged my acer monitor and hoked up my compute to my tv. The resolution was off so I tried adjusting to different resolutions but dint get one that worked. I then went to my control panel, then display, then adapter and turned off (disabled) the video (i think) adapter. Now when I reboot the computer i get the XP logo then no welcome sceen although hear all the right sounds as if it was booting properly but no display(video) is being shown? How do I turn it back on if I cant see anything?
