Backup Battery Replacement Causes Hang... Factory Reset?

Replacement was easy.... restoring the system hasn't been successful. No mention of factory reset in manual except for "Factory Set" which says the RAM test on power-up failed, and this will wipe all user data, which I am not concerned about, but, never happens. is there some way to trigger this function?

With this device if you remove the backup battery and the main batteries go flat then the data will be lost. If the Ram has an error then there is nowhere that the device can save its information so you have a dilemma. It is advisable to replace the backup battery whilst there are stil good batteries installed to retain information. However if you have a RAM error then it is a case of solving that problem first and if at all possible replace the memory yourself. This is a link to the manual and on the 3rd page it explains that replacing the backup battery without backing up the data will result in losing all the data.

Factory Set . After the power is switched ON, a system diagnosis is run on the QY70's system. If the diagnosis finds the RAM to be defective, this message will appear and the memory will be reset to its original factory setting.

Yamaha recommend they replace the battery for some reason not explained.

Hope that helps. Good luck.
