Hey mate!
You can try the basic troubleshooting steps in such situations - try to plug the drive in different SATA port, and try to connect it to a different computer. In case the problem remains, then you can try two more things:
1. Set the drive jumpers to slave.
2. When you plug the converter in to your drive make sure you it covers all the IDE pin and not miss 2 on the left or right side as that will also stop the drive from being seen.

Hi. It is rather hard to advise in a more purposeful manner without the knowledge of the converter used but most of these are plug and play. My suggestion would be that you try the converted HDD setup on a different board if you can. Also try a different converter if you can borrow one.
