What would cause the right half of the screen to be darker then the left and is there a way to fix it CHEAP

If the television has an ambient light sensor, then it could be malfunctioning. It most likely has something to do with some sort of bulb or the panel though. Unfortunately all repairs with televisions are pretty expensive, and bulb and panel repairs are among the most expensive. You could call a repair shop and ask if the tech has heard of something like that before though, that might get you an answer.
