Handset Banner
What exactly is a handset banner? Who sees this, and why when I am done entering it, does the last letter keep blinking? What is the purpose of this anyway?

The banner is just a convenience for you. It is not required for anything. The base unit can support up to 12 handsets. Putting a banner on each simply helps describe the handset. It's only displayed on the handset itself.
Why it blinks I can only guess. It would appear you need to hit the END key to complete the setting. That may take care of it, the manual is a bit vague.
