Why Has My Projector Blown Following Lamp Replacement?

As stated by the manufacturers, after about 2000hrs the lamp which came with my projector blew, so I purchased a replacement lamp from a company which assured me complete compatibility of their lamp with my specific projector. I carefully swapped the new lamp for the blown one in the original housing and tested, all seemed well. The projector worked for between 4-5hrs, then there was a pop. Upon inspection, I noticed that there was no indication of the new lamp being blown... no discolouration or burnt area, however the shielding immediately around the lamp, had in one tiny section, spot welded itself together. I then replaced the original blown lamp to test if all was well with the projector, but it seems that the power circuit has been blown, as there are no warning lights or any indication of power in the unit. (I have checked the power lead fuse) Thanking you for your help. Yours, Todd
