Cannot Get Set-up Instructions On My Tv For The Dvr670ku Dvd/vcr Unit

I have a brand new Toshiba VD Recorder/VCR model  #DVR670KU unit which I proceeded to set up. Upon successful connection of the cables, I turned on my TV and the Toshiba unit to do the initial set up. However, the instructions for the set-up never appeared on my TV. I checked all the connections and tried pressing the DVD/TV button on the remote control unit without any luck. I replaced the Toshiba unit with the old DVD/VCR unit I was replacing and everything worked fine with that unit's set-up. Why can't I bring up the set-up instructions for the Toshiba DVD/VCR on my TV? I understand this is a common problem with this unit. Please advise. Thanks.
