I Can't Open My Toshiba Laptop

i tried doing the "0" and "f12" methods , yet i can't seem to open it ; they don't work ; it would always be stuck with the startup repair screen .i can access the setup utility and the intel ctrl+p stuff , but i don't know what else to do .i have a toshiba portege r830 running on windows 7 . please help me , i want to be able to restore my laptop .

This is the user guide which will advise you the correct buttons to press to access menus.

This is a maintenance manual used by engineers to service these laptops when the problem is a hardware issue.

With this information you should be able to solve your problem. There is also a possible recovery partition which will return the laptop to factory if you have no data you want to retrieve. If the hard drive has been replaced that would not be available. Windows has various options for repairing the O/S which are available once booted up.

The "0" and "f12" methods are the most common ways to get into your BIOS. If these don't work, it's possible that one of your keys is stuck or there is a problem with the keyboard. Try pressing a few of the other keys on your keyboard to see if you can get in this way.
