Antenna Folding Problem

My wife (whose radio this is) says that she can't get the antenna to fold down into its slot along the side of the case. Trying, I couldn't get it to move either.. ..and the plastic around where the relevant piece of metal goes into the case looks like it has been stressed a lot. The only thing I could thiink of was to try to take the radio apart, to see how the mechanism is supposed to work. I found one screw undern the batteries - and I undid the screw that holds the antenna on - but I still can't get the unit open. I imagine it has one of those plastic latches which will break if you don't happen to know the secret of where to push it when. A clue as to that would help. ..as would some experience on how this antenna's folding tends to break.
