Sony is a market leader and is known for quality brands. True it has a lot of power when it comes to sound but the question you need to ask yourself is, what do you want to use it for? If you intend to use it in the house then I would suggest you get the Panasonic. It has a lot of features that you will love plus the power is conducive for the home. If your intended use is outdoor then get the Sony. If you are using the Sony for indoor then you are wasting the system as you will not use all it's power. Further, with the kind of money you are willing to spend I would suggest you get a Sony HT-DDW7500. Awesome power and clear sound. Hope this helps and good luck.
