Icd B300 Audio Problem

has anyone experienced or know why some recordings will play back normally and ill stop them and when i return later to contine playback on the same recording you cant even hear it!!! please help. and during the time time betwee initall playback nd when i return nothing has been changed settting wise. in fact the player had been left alone in the hold position! any help would be greatly appreciated
