To exit the diagnostic test mode and return the register to its normal operation mode, you can try the following steps:
- Turn off the cash register by unplugging it from the power source or turning off the circuit breaker that powers it.
- Press and hold down the "Journal Feed" button.
- While holding down the "Journal Feed" button, turn the cash register back on by plugging it in or turning on the circuit breaker.
- Continue to hold down the "Journal Feed" button until the display shows "diag-end".
- Release the "Journal Feed" button.
- The cash register should now be in normal operation mode, and the small dot should no longer be blinking.
If this procedure does not work or if you have any other issues with your Sharp ER-A440 cash register, it is recommended that you consult the user manual or contact a professional technician for assistance.

- Check the power source: Make sure the cash register is plugged into a functioning power outlet and that the power cable is securely connected to the register.
- Check the mode key position: The mode key should be in the "REG" position for normal operation. If it is in another position, such as "OFF" or "PGM", the register will not function properly.
- Check for any jammed keys: Sometimes a key on the keyboard can become jammed, preventing the register from operating. Check to make sure all keys are fully released and not stuck in the down position.
- Try resetting the cash register: Turn off the power to the cash register and unplug it from the power source. Wait a few seconds and then plug it back in and turn it on again.
