My hubby is a scientist and darned if he didn't solve the problem of water flowing onto the floor. First, he took the front cover off which was a feat in and of itself to figure out. Actually it's comprised of taking out some screws on the bottom of the unit, the 2 side filters, then using pressure on each side where looking from the sides, the plastic looks triangular, that removes the front cover to inspect the coils. All OK except for pet hair. Went to Home Depot, after reading page E-27 Drainage, purchased the 5/8" inner diameter, 7/8" outer diameter hose a hose band, stuck the dain grommet into the hose, pushed it over the stopcock drain,cut it to a length to fit into a bucket, but will not emerse into the water that collects and opened the stopcock. Problem solved. The bucket needs to be checked frequently. We still keep a rectangle plastic pan from Smart and Final under the unit...just in case. The exhaust pipe should be vented out the window and blue taped so curious cats don't move the window extension to use it as a cat door.

Didn't know this before but air conditioners are also dehumidifiers. The water that comes out is from the moisture in the air - breathing, humidity from cooking, bathing, raining outside, whatever creates moisture in the air.

For maintenance, take off the front cover every year and clean the coils and wash the 2 side filters before you put the unit away after summer. For the little we used the unit in the past the coils had quite a bit pet hair collected dust on them.

We're now nice and cool and water free. Hope this helps.
