Sanyo Plasma 50 Inch Flatscreen

When I hook my dvd player to my Sanyo 50 inch plasma tv, it does not play in color

I'm assuming that you are hooking the TV to the DVD via the RCA type push on connectors. There are two different types of input/output connections. One is the composite where there are a total of three connections, one for the video and the other two are for the stereo audio (yellow for video and red and white for audio), and component where there are a total of five connectors needed. there are three needed to convey the video and the other two is again for the stereo audio (green, blue and red for the video and red and white for the audio). If you hook these up incorrectly then one symptom is a black and white picture, others will be a greenish picture, etc.

There are sometimes when the DVD has a menu setting that is incorrect that can also cause this symptom (with no disc inserted press [menu] to access this menu).

There are settings of every DVD or Plasma TV, the best thing you can do is to locate the menu settings of the device and choose the colored version. There might be a setting that the device should display negative colors. Goodluck.
