How Do I Get More Than 2000 Songs On A Sandisk Mp3 Player?

I had an old Sandisk mp3 player, with a memory card that had, and showed, and played, 3455 songs. That mp3 player broke so I bought an identical version. Swapped the memory card from the old one to new one.... and it only shows 2000 songs. Where are the rest?I reformatted and reinstalled the songs on the memory card, and its still 2000, only its a DIFFERENT 2000, its whatever 2000 songs were installed on the memory card first. What gives?
