the volume goes to 100 and tv seems to be locked up. the remote does not work in this situation. moreover few months this tv also was losing signal frequently

this could be the keyboard (function board), the remote receiver board (IR board) or the main board. There is a wire harness that comes from the main board (the one with the input jacks on it) that is going to the IR board (lower right corner on the bezel) and from this board is a wire harness going to the function board.

Press all the buttons on the function board to see if one is stuck in. This could stop the remote from working. then turn the set on and see if it works.

If you still have problems then you can disconnect the wire harness at th main board to see if the TV works normally (you will not be able to change any functions of course, but this is how to check the main board. If th volume still goes up then it a bad main (need the version on the Tv to ensure you get the right part number)
