Glass Top Replacement

My husgnd just ruine the glass top of our almost new Samsung range by letting chocolate sauce boil over onto it and not cleaning it. The glass above one of the coils now is etched in quite a big area, mostly peripheral. Can I still use the range if I don't use that area? Will the glass crack? How much does it cost to replace the glass top?
