The Dvd Door Will Not Open.

What causes the dvd door not to open or close? In other words the dvd will not come out?

Greetings.

1. Initially, when pressing on the STOP/OPEN to eject the loading tray, feel the body of the unit and determine if there is a whirring feeling or if the sound could be heard.

The above is to determine if it is a mechanical or an electronic concern.

2. You can also try unplugging it for an hour or so, press and hold the STOP/OPEN button while plugging back into a power outlet.

3. Otherwise, absence of the vibrations and/or whirring sound would lean towards an electronic fault. Possible suspects would include:

faulty loading motor or its coupling (least likely);
faulty loading servo drive (likely);
power supply issue (most likely).

This would then be a hardware fault requiring the RCA to be opened up for further/confirmatory diagnosis and effect repairs. Options then are:

consider a DIY (do-it-yourself) repair if and only if comfortable working with electronic components & circuitry, use of a DVM/VOM, a soldering iron/station and safe practices with electrically powered devices. Access to a Service Manual or at the very least, a schematic diagram would be a necessity;
should you be uncomfortable with a DIY, perhaps your best bet would then be to consult with and/or seek the services of an authorized Service Center or a qualified professional;
evaluate other options considering cost of repair, down time, cost of shipping, parts availability and comparable prices of newer/better models.
