No Sound Via Hdmi Video Switching
I added a apple tv through my pioneer vsx-917V amp and when I switch it on video shows in my hd tv but cannot get any sound through the amp. Checked everything in the apple tv soud output (its in auto) and there is no optical output connected. Why I'm not being able to get any sound by doing the video switching in my amp

Not sure if you got the answer but this receiver does not send sound through the HDMI cable. You will need to use the digital optical cable for sound. Have a look at this
