Deh-3400ub Power Flickers When I Switch To The Tuner...help!!!

I installed DEH-3400UB, but when i connect the 'yellow wire' to my continuos 12v (12.3v) and then switch the reciever from Demo to the tuner, the radio's power starts to flicker as if it's going on/off... please help.... as a quick solution, i hooked my 'yellow wire' up to the Ignition 12v (11.9v) and the radio works fine, but i can't make any station saves, as i lose all memory when i turn the car off? what is causing my radio to do this when i hook up the continuos 12volts ?
