My Voice Recorder Seems To Not Be Working

My voice recorder comes on but does not seem to be working at all how do I get it to work? when I press the record button it doesn't do anything none of the buttons seem to be working

BATTERY INSTALLATION 1 Open the battery compartment by sliding it towards the bottom of the unit. 2 Insert two (2) "AAA" size batteries (not included) following the polarity diagram.
