Unlock To Donate For Use In Another Country

I have this LG VX3200 phone and want to donate it to a missionary in another country, but the phone has not been active for about 5 years. The SIM card is still in it but not active. I was on someone else's account at the time and they won't give me the Verizon account number so I can call and get it unlocked. Is there some other way to get it unlocked for use in another country? I need an answer ASAP because it is to be sent next week. Thank you.

Sorry but this phone can't really be used outside the US. It's a CDMA phone which is a technology used mostly by US carriers. International carriers usually use GSM.
