How Do I Get A Hdmi Connection On My Tv With The Hdmi Lg Lht854

i cant get my 42 sanyo hd tv to simplink with the lg lht854 dvd rec. i dont know if im using the wrong cable.i have the hdmi cord running from tv-lg rec n no signal ..it use to work but i might done something
