Hyundai Sta Fe Speedometer Stopped Working
i have a 2008 hyundai sta fe which i guess has a similar engine (2.2 ltr crdi as the 2007 model. i recently had its injectors recalibrated and the turbo intercooler cleaned. the problem is the speedometer. when i got the unit back, it was not working anymore. i believe the repairman missed connecting something. i want to do it myself if i can. i just can't find the speed sensor. can you help me find it? best f you can send me a picture of its location. thanks in advance.rod

located the sensor on top of the transmission, in an easy to reach location from under the car. I pulled it out for inspection, and again once I got the part. Its an easy 15 minute job.
The connector comes off by pressing in the release tab/wire.
A 10mm bolt holds it in.
To remove it, rotate the sensor by pulling on the bolt/flange. Uplift it while rotating so the gear moves.
Close examination of the sensor gear, showed it became worn and almost bald in one spot. This gear can be removed by releasing the E clip.
The gear is $11 at Hyundai.
Note: Becareful not to press hard on the sensors connector while removing. In my case the top of the sensor came free because the glue holding it together was poorly done. I got lucky as the contact and spring inside did not get lost. I glued it together with epoxy and it was OK.
Note: I have 4 Hyundai's in the family. 2 of which experienced the speedometer intermittently stop working. It is an easy fix, but obviously a bigger trend than what the forums are showing.
