Keyboard Keeps Disappearing/closing On My Huawei Phone

Okay so I don't know if it's called a keyboard, but you know what I mean. The thing that pops up so you can type on a text or online message keeps disappearing/closing randomly when I'm in the middle of typing and I have to wait a few minutes for it to come back up. Why does it keep closing mid-text and how can I either stop it or get it to come back up quicker?
