Color Problems

The color on my tv is going out. Is it salvagable? If so what do i need to do?

This is an LCD rear projection HDTV that has the problem (as all of these types of TVs no matter the manufacturer) where the heat from the lamp destroys the small LCD panels over time. They do make a rebuilt optical engine for a fraction of the new part, but this price is still too high for most pocket books, especially when the customer realizes that the new one will go bad in 4-6 years.
