Clunking Sound Between Basket/drum And Outer Tub
Originally the washer would make a loud, clanking noise during faster spins and then it started smelling like burning rubber and smoking. The smoke seemed to come out of the basket when we opened the door. We replaced the drive belt. The old one was very stretched out. When we ran a test wash after changing the belt, no more burning rubber smell or smoking but the clanking noise clearly sounded like some loose, non-metal object was clunking around between the basket and the outer tub. During the very fast spin the sound disappeared but returned when the washer slowed to a stop. THUNK. We can also hear the clunking sound by just manually turning the basket. We're wondering what part has come loose and if it can be repaired.
