No, you are not required to have a landline phone to receive Dish.  Dish Network is a satellite cable company and does not use traditional phone lines for TV connection.  They may require some sort of phone number in case they would need to contact you, but that does not need to be a landline.

Hi. This is Phillip Chang with Dish Network's Customer Service Department. We really appreciate all the great input! Just to add to this, it's still a great idea to have your receiver connected to either a phone line or ether net cable so you can take advantage of all it's features, but customer's will not be charged a $5 fee for not having it connected anymore.

You do not have to have a phone line but it cost $5 extra per month.You cannot view your bill, you cannot enter sweepstakes, and you cannot get pay per view movies or events unless you call.
