Unsatisfied with DISH.

Every time we get rain, wind, fog, or snow we do not get service. Packages have less channels and more expensive. Movie channels show the same shows over and over again. I will not renew my contract. Got an Epix free offer in the mail but cannot redeem it on line. What a rip off! Whenever I call in, I get someone who speaks a foreign language and cannot understand them. So frustrating, especially for older generation.

DISH no service

daily outage, no customer service, they have never been able to solve a problem, Epix free letter came only on Feb. 6th and you can not redeem this offer. Increased prices, less channels, and shows the same program over and over. Thanks for nothing.

rip off outfit

Had this junk for 6 plus years.Rates go up and programming goes south.Cant even get access to Epix promo touted by Dish.Get a local antenna and subscription to Hula and Netflix;put the dish in the garbage.

Customer service

Any time I have had to call customer service, I always was connected to a person who understood and spoke fairly good English. Most of these people lived in the Philippines.
They are all courteous and were very helpful to solve my problem.
Because of the excellent customer service, I intend to keep Dish network and I recommend this company

Always a problems with DISH.

I've been with DISH network about 10 years now.It stated with $39.95 per month.After A year it went up $69.95,I expected this,But,since then till 2 years ago,I noticed that my bill for Dish was raised about $5 extra per month 4 times different times in 5 years when I noticed it,but never received any notices that my bill was going up.When I called to complain,of-course,a used car salesman came on phone and all he did was tried to sale me different movie package and bribed my with discounted monthly payments of $25.00 less per month,then I asked him why my bill was raised without been notified,he went to telling it's because of the cost to maintain DishNetworks cost to run it,but always changing subject to avoid telling me why I was not notified.Like everybody else,the signal sucks,there be some rain/little storm or clouds 20-50 miles from where I live and I get"total loss signals".Where I live,I cain't get any other services till now,now my contract with Dish is over,I am changing my services to Charter.Hopefully they won't have their movie channels playing the same movies over&over 8-12 months straight and having 2-3 channels playing the same movies at same time.And the hopper,I will"NOT"tell my friends to switch to Dish,I don't want to loose them as friends.I do"TOTALLY AGREE"with reviewer #25846.

frustration

I tried to find a movie schedule for a free offer from dish for 45 free movies in feb and march to be viewed on channel 102 and got absolutely no problem resolution in more than an hour of chat with dish customer service.

not holding up there end of agreement.

I've been with dish network for 3 months,and I'm so dissapointed, that i would LOVE to switch companys, when i spoke with a dish rep.I asked about all my local channels and was told yes i would have them,But in my 3 months i now have lost 2 local channels,for weeks at a time,bet they would not let me go without paying my bill for weeks at a time,or charging me for the rest of my 2 year contract with them.SO WHATS UP WITH THIS PICTURE.

Dish is all I know

programming

Well I'm in zip code 01020 and it seems that the contract dispute is going strong here. Can't get Fox (20 stations), MyTV (18), ABC (11), CW (14), CBS (9), NBC (1) and Azteca (1). What a piece of crap, I just got DISH and the rep said that I could get all of my cable stations. The DISH rep just left out the point that I would have to move to another part of the U.S. to get other cable stations.
What a big piece of crap now I'm stuck with crapping programs. Here's the kicker, I pay $43 a month for 12 months then it jumps to $70, I'm paying that for cable!!!!
I tell ya this is about on the same level as a ponzi scheme, suck 'em and let them think that they are getting a deal. I was told I wouldn't get my local station 40 and FOX, I can live with that.
It's the part of not being told about the cable stations and how some are local and you need to be in that locale to get them. I tell you it's a PONZI scheme all, incredible!!!!

Not good

Im here due to bad internet its so bad it causes are cell phones internet not to function till we leave our house. As otheres have metion you must get a big package for only wanting on channel. Id cancel the internet but you sign up for a year and dodnt sign up for someone to come back out so i afraid to ask for help and get charged. When we got internet the guy was rude that came over and sold us 2 extra items we didnt want. i told him no to no avail. also i had a router we bought he told me we stole it from comcast and they want it back.also dish runs a add that price wont go up well they were under law suit for secretly doing it anyway it happen to us. They sent a letter that they raised our prices. Also ufc will not show in a thunderstorm and cable can go out for an hr during a storm. If you want dish be prepared for grief and poor poor service.

Most the problems I have with Hopper deal with ability to read the text.
1. The Guide now shows 6 channels at a time with no ability to reduce it to 4, thereby making the text larger.
2. You can't skip forward to the same time each day (now you have to use the forward button to advance 24 hours, a half-hour at a time).
3. The channel information bar you get when you press the Cancel button, is hard to read for no reason. You can readily see the time, but the duration of the program and minutes remaining are more faint and should be the same clarity as the time.
4. Now comes the worst part. When you try to look at what you have recorded, it no longer shows it in the old easy to read format. You now get ICONs that are too small to read without getting out of your chair and close to the TV to see what they are.
5. The caller ID now is so small it also is difficult to read. Also, you no longer have the ability to bring up a list of phone callers with number and time of day.
This is not progress, this is regress. I suppose if you had a very large 50-60 inch TV it wouldn't be a problem, But even then, why do you need this. It all was fine the way it was.
My wife has vision problems and it's impossible for her to see anything dealing with the new system and Dish won't let us go back to the old system.
Before you invest in Hopper, go to someone that has it along with a TV size you presently have and you will see what I mean.
There is also a deceiving feature that Dish promotes and that is the Hopper records your local network stations daily and allows you to watch them commercial free. This comes at a price. What they tell you is that you can record up to 6 programs at a time. What they don't tell you is that four of the stations are being used by Hopper to record the local channels, therefore only allowing you to watch one channel and record another, just like it was before. They at least give you the ability to deactivate this feature, thus allowing you to watch one and record five.

My DVR did a reboot on it's own and I lost all my recordings. I was told that there was nothing that could be done to restore the lost shows. Something has to be wrong with the unit or it would not have done this. I would like my DVR replaced so I don't have this eppisode happen again.

I have been a loyal customer for a lot of years now I hear my bill is going up, I change to the TOP 20, don't know who's top 20 it is, because is NOT my TOPO 20. Received a special for $19.99 that I can not get I do not qualify.
Maybe it is time to qualify at another network.

Terrible service

Don't purchase a subscription with Dish Network unless you love having your service shut off. If it rains or the wind blows, service goes out, and won't come back on until it decides to. This is VERY frustrating if you are in the middle of a football or basketball game! I don't recommend this service to anyone. Unfortunately, the company is all over TV trying to convince possible customers that they have great service, but they don't. Not recommended.

Message 803 on my tv for 1 year

Said I never pay my bill on time and I was not selecting ok 3 times for this message to disappear
I have did this 100 times or more one tech said they were sending me a new receiver but then a rude lady named Shelly (own) said I better start paying my bill on time and mayb she would take message # 803 off I pay my bill when I get the cash I work for tips and if dish thought their was a problem with me paying 3 days late I would not have the service it would be off she or they want me to keep getting mad and hang up on them so they won't fix the problems I've been calling for I year I went into a heart and stroke event over this today just got out of hospital Monday 12-24-2012 Shelly (own) is a rude mean and wants to send me to my death over a message 803 on my tv1 for a year after speaking with Matt (8uj) at 5:35 pm today 12-29-2012 said a order had been placed for a new receiver Shelly (own) knew this but was trying to send me to a stroke heart attack and I guess she she points for speaking rude to persons and telling them they are 3 days late on their bill I have had dish for 3 yrs no one has sent me anything on nothing they just want their $74.00 each month Beverly Reid =

I've had a few difficulties with Dish, but nothing like those listed below. My main complaint is that to get a station you want, in my case Turner Classic Movies, you have to upgrade to a couple of hundred channels. I only want one. But Comcast is the same. Why can't you subscribe to the stations you like and pay a fee for each?

Dishnet work sucks. They play same western all week. Programs radio show get ready good networks, Tv land have only a couple watchable progrms. If programs dont in prove here come dirrect tv.

Distant Networks RV program rolled out in May 2012. I bought a 211K receiver to receive the LA networks. Today I received an email that they will no longer provide the service as of Nov.15. So the new program only lasted 18 months. I am not a happy camper.

Dish Network customer for years Brenda : This is Brenda and I have been a Dish Network customer for years. I was looking at the Dish Networks Perks and I lot of that I can't even have the option of doing. Like for example: 30-SECOND SKIP Did you miss that scene? Want to jump over commercials? With DISH's 30-second skip-ahead feature, you can fast forward 30 seconds or rewind 10 seconds with a push of a single button on any DVR receiver. We know your time is valuable, so DISH makes it easy to get back to what you want to watch as conveniently as possible. That statement above I can't do because I don't have a DVR, I was never upgraded to that, and to upgrade I have to pay, for what your new customers get for free. There needs to be more of what you call Perks, we should get free upgrades, our system is outdated and we have never received a upgrade. I would love to have a DVR, but can not get one with out paying a high price for, so how I am getting all of your perks you say you have. Sounds like I can't get any perks at all. I just wanted to bring that to your attention, because this needs to be addressed. Thank you Brenda

Direct tv came out and said they could not install a dish due to the trees in the yard. Time warner too expensive...and belongs to the Fed via the CFR. Heard a commercial that DISH picked up The Blaze. One call brought a discreet dish, great price, no probs for the last couple of months AND I can watch recorded programs in the bedroom. I love the Dish Network and hope to have it wherever I am. Thank you, Dish.

Dish network is AWFUL! They are always cutting programs or adding crap I do not watch.. they promise me to take channels off that I do not need/want and then never do..but they NEVER hesitate to RAISE THE COST OF SERVICE.. if you can call it that. .I am fed up and as soon as the stupid contract is up I am leaving Dish!

I switch from centurylink to Dish network

This is the worst company I've ever dealt with. you sign up with them then they cancel channels but you're still on a contract that they aren't abiding by. The signal goes out literally once a week. Do not switch to Dish network.

I have tried and tried to call Dish ,but they always put me on hold.We are so tired of our dish going out.I was promised it did not do that anymore.That is why we signed up again.It barley rains and its out.Welost amc,and you added Stupid Glenn Beck.We are gonna cancel as soon as our contract is up,if not before.I know quiet a few more that will cancell too.We thought we were getting a good service,but we found out what Dish is all about.Sorry it has to be this way but thats how it is.We are paying for nothing.Thanks Melba Sparks

Bare bones service.

If you are just looking for news channels, then by all means use dish network. However, if for instance you wanted to have a Japanese channel, the only option available is to order a bundle with about a dozen other language channels, none of which I intend to watch, being interested in the Japanese channel only. Don't they realize they're losing customers this way?

No Dish Network Bill

I have had a bundle - AT&T phone service, internet service and Dish service. I have received my AT&T bill combined with internet service, but NO CHARGES FOR MY DISH SERVICE for the past 3 months. I know AT&T disolved the partnership with Dish, but I am concerned. SHOULD I JUST IGNORE THIS OR WILL THEY SEND ME A LARGE BILL FOR SERVICE FROM FEB. 2012. Direct payment letter a lie!

I was sent a letter By Dish TV stating I stopped my auto draft monthly payment. And due to that I was now going to be charged $10.00 per month additional for HD. I have all HD tv's so this service is needed. I contacted Dish TV and discussed this issue with the CSR and she said I had auto draft. I informed her I never have had auto draft and I can arrange a three way call with my bank right now to confirm that I never authorized or had auto draft for Dish TV. The CSR stated and I quote "that is not necessary this is a company decision and either start auto draft or pay the $10.00 either way I did not care"
"I have never been late and pay my bill on time! I told her "my contract is up in July and you can bill me but you will lose me as a customer"
CSR" That is your choice"

Don't use DISH!

Dish Network With Logitech Revue

I recently got the Logitech Revue from dish network and I've got to admit, it is better than I though it would be. Not only can I access my DVR and set recordings, I can surf the web. Lets say I want to watch something about my favorite hobby, Muscle cars. I can type it in on the keyboard and I get a search of Google and of dish networks channel line up and also my DVR. One of the cool features that I also got to try was the harmony remote for android phones. I can bring up a remote on my phone and with the speak option I can say what I want to watch and it will bring up the same search. Awesome piece of technology. I don't know how I lived without it.

in need of help

Ha, I just would like to say I have dish network,and i havent had a good exprience yet with my services. I have had it going in three weeks and my tvs havent been on for three hours without going out,it is sad ,then i dont have no choices but to keep the services,because we cant get cable were we are.If youll read this I sure hope u can help me.

DISH Network is amazing in ways that most websites won't allow me to describe. The service itself was breathtaking. Never before have I had the pleasure of having my TV shut off when it desires to, while simultaneous being forced to provide THEM an internet signal to avoid an additional charge. Until this service, I didn't realize the importance of rudimentary television access without obscene charges that fades to static with little more than a gentle breeze. I guess leading in the satellite industry is a little like "leading" as a 27 year old pro athlete in the geriatric league of your local retirement home. Sure you won, but what does that really mean? Of course, with this level of service, you would only expect the technicians to be just as qualified for the job.

Now, no one who has read this far would ever expect a problem with their DISH network service. However, in the off-chance that something DOES happen, getting your DISH network service fixed is as simple as "1, 2, 3". 1. Call the toll free number and provide answers to a few simple questions such as the name, address, cystic fibrosis carrier status, whether you were ashamed when you caught DISH network staring in on you from your bathroom window and the birth weight of your nearest living relative. The phone call will be directed to the Technically Handicapped Dept. 2. Sit on hold for a few hours as your ears begin to bleed from the gentle blend of commercials and the music styling of Richard Simmons. 3. The starving 3rd world child that maintains DISH network's call center in Tanzania will then provide you a blanket statement that reflects what was available in the manual that you received with your DISH network box and you will still be left with a defective service. It's as simple as that!

Should you have a billing question or have some extra money you do not wish to invest or spend on a stripper (who is HONESTLY trying to make her way through college), DISH Network's customer service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Just give a ring to the same 800 number you called earlier and follow a few different prompts. You will be greeted on the line by a friendly former car salesman who was recently fired for rolling a baby down a flight of stairs or the social equivalent there of. This person will go on to express why they are doing you a favor by contractually obligating you to their service and how you should build an idol to DISH network composed of the satellite dishes of heretic subscribers to other networks. The whole conversation will leave you with the feeling of being violated in a way only a pedophile in prison could understand AND you will be at least $100 lighter by the end of the month! I don't know about you but I'm left with a warm and fuzzy feeling just thinking about it...or maybe that's just indigestion.

Seriously, I hope you had a good laugh but avoid this company. It's not worth the trouble you will only save money if you decide that having channels and quality service is unimportant to you.

I had dish network from 1998 until 2009. I have to say my overall experience with the company (and that included a move from one house to another) was positive.

Overall even when I had to pay for local channels ($5 extra a month), and HD ($10 extra a month), their prices were far below the cable (e.g. Cox, Turner) in my area.

Would I go back to them in my new house? Yes if they service my area.

There is no real customer service with Dish Network. They seem nice at the time, but try to cancel your service, because of bad customer service, and it gets worse. They are absolutely horrible to deal with. I will never go back to them and to think I was a loyal customer until I didnt matter anymore!

Some subcribers get 1 free move a year..while others (myself) are forced to pay $100 for the move. When I told them I was not going to pay that much they said "you have no choice" so then I told them to cancel my service. They said "that will be $150 plus another $15 fee to return the equipment.

I am not sure why they are treating me like this, but it really upsets me to know they are treating almost everyone like this!

We were without TV for 5 days because of a "Complete signal loss" Dish finally sent someone out to fix it 5 days after we called. Less than 1 month later, just this past week we have the same problem. This time Dish sent someone the next day, which was yesterday March 23, 2011. We had TV last night and now this morning have the same problem. "Complete Signal Loss" I called Customer service and the guy would not schedule someone without me being home to trouble shoot the receivers, I explained to him I did that already before I came to work and the tech said he thought he might have to replace the Dish if it happens again so please send someone out right away. He said he had to transfer me to his supervisor, when he went to do this he hung up on me. I have contacted Direct TV because I'm tried of the very poor customer support Dish has given. I have been with Dish for almost 10 years. But in the past couple there support for there customers has gotten continually worst.
