Follow Up Answer To Shlokuprit

On March 24th, I submitted a question, "Installing A M.2 2280 Mvme Ssd Drive Into My Dell 24 5475". Shlokuprit responded with a very informative answer, but based on his answer, I had a follow-up question. In the place where the SSD drive goes, there is a black plastic plate. Shlokuprit told me to remove the plastic cover that is covering the M.2 slot, but I think my question was misunderstood. The plastic plate is not covering the slot, it is attached to the motherboard where the SSD drive would be fixed. I don't know how to remove it without damaging the motherboard. After further inspection, it appears that the plate is not attached to the motherboard by a screw. I am now led to believe that the plate is designed for the SSD drive to rest on, although no other photographs show this to be true. I am attaching two images that explain this. The red arrow points to where the plate is attached, but I don't see a screw. The blue arrow points to one of two brass posts that appear to have a screw hole. The second image shows the plate in its entirety and shows two brass posts with screw holes. If I am correct, then the SSD drive rests on the black plate and is attached at the bottom brass post/screw hole.

Thank you for providing more details and images of the situation. Based on the images you provided, it appears that the black plastic plate is indeed designed for the SSD drive to rest on, and it is attached to the motherboard by two brass posts that have screw holes.

To install the M.2 2280 NVMe SSD drive into your Dell 24 5475, you would need to remove the screw from the bottom brass post on the black plastic plate, and then gently lift the plate upwards to remove it from the motherboard. Once you have removed the plate, you should be able to see the M.2 slot underneath it.

You can then install the M.2 2280 NVMe SSD drive into the slot, making sure that it is properly aligned and inserted at a slight angle. You should then secure the SSD in place using the screw that was originally attached to the bottom brass post on the black plastic plate.

After the SSD is securely in place, you can then reattach the black plastic plate onto the motherboard, making sure to align it with the two brass posts and screwing it back in place using the original screw.

I hope this information helps, and if you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to ask.
