Where is Dell optiplex 780 air temperature sensor located

The air temperature sensor is located just behind the air intake vent in the front of the system.

Referring to the service manual there is no mention of a thermal sensor. Most items within the unit have their own thermal sensors which will cause them to stop in the event of overheating.

The CPU fan will have a sensor which feeds data back to the system board which tells it when the CPU is too hot and will shut down the system PCB.
