I have a Dell Inspiron N5030 laptop. The lid was slammed shut and now it can't detect the hard drive. I tried reseating it but it still gives the same error message, hard drive not found. Is my hard drive shot or is there something else I can try?

Hi,

Please remove the power cable and the battery, and then hold the power button down for 15-20 seconds and reset the battery and the adapter back in and start the computer. Check if it works.

Run the Pre-boot system assessment test.

While holding down the FN key switch on the computer till you see the test running on the screen. Please let me know if you get any error message.

You can refer the Dell Article 266787 on www.support.dell.com

http://dell.to/oe1Qg1

If still you get the same error, would recommend trying a different hard drive and check.

Please respond for any further assistance.

Thanks & Regards
Rathish C
