Booting Problems

The hd crashed. This was replaced with a new hd. The os was restored using the system recovery discs. When the recovery process has finished, win 7 is up and running. However if windows is shut down and then the computer is turned on again, windows bootmanager comes up with an error message that it can't find the hd. THe cd drive can not be found either. It is obviously not the HD as it has been replaced. I have done a RAM check and thst is fine. I cannot find any virus on the recovery diaks. Any suggestions?
