How To Restore To Factory Settings?

I own a Compaq NC6120 notebook.  SN CNU53921YF.  I have had a series of issues with this notebook.  A year ago I downloaded a virus.  I removed it....so I thought using AVG & Malware Bites.  However, even after removal it still not acting the way it should.  System Restore does not work.  The virus took over the Restore points.  I want to reset the notebook to it's factory settings.  ( I KNOW I'LL LOSE EVERYTHING.  BUT I'M ALRIGHT WITH THAT AT THIS POINT.)  I have done the "F10" button & tried to reset the defaults from there, but when the notebook reboots, nothing has changed.  HOw can I reset my notebook to it's factory settings without a recovery disc?  I cannot locate a recovery disc anywhere!
