Display Screen Goes Blank After The Original Check

When the unit first turns on it goes through a check of the unit. After the check, it is supposed to default to some icons then appearing on the screen. Currently, my unit no longer shows anything on the screen after it completes the checking process. Also, I noticed that when it is going through its checking process, a checkmark doesn't appear in all the items listed. Does anyone know what the problem is?
