The manual can be viewed/downloaded here
As for using the scanner, Canon highly recommends installing the My Image Garden software for scanning to your computer. To view the download option please go to the Canon Website's Driver's & Software link for your model number.
Once at the link, choose your operating system from the dropdown menu for a list of all available downloads.
Click on Software to expand the submenu and choose My Image Garden to view the download.
